Description
Two RAC special stage roadbooks from the first two years when the RAC Rally under Jack Kelmsley’s organisation produced a world class rally involving special stages. In 1961 (shown on the left in pictures) the rally embraced for the first time 24 stages in the main on forestry commission tracks along with 3 special tests moved into the forests. It was won by Erik Carlsson/John Brown in a SAAB 96. The following year (shown on right in pictures) 38 stages were included and again it was won by Erik Carlsson this time co-driven by David Stone.
These are very rare items and provide an excellent insight and historical information on the formative years of this world class rally. The 1961 item was used by L. J. Preddy in car no. 121 (picture of driver included)
